Grease director not keen on remake

Grease director Randal Kleiser isn't keen on remaking it.
The American filmmaker made his directorial debut with the 1978 musical, which stars John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John and which is re-released as a sing-along version in cinemas.
He said: "The idea of remaking Grease just doesn't interest me, I can't imagine looking back and redoing it - I hope there will not be a remake and I think it was a good move on Paramount's part to remaster it and re-release it as a sing-along version."
"Remakes I've seen have not been as interesting as the original. It's more fresh to make new movies than remake old ones."
But Randal revealed plans for Grease 3 are very much up in the air.
"There are no real plans for it right now. People are always trying to get a script done, but John [Travolta] isn't focused on it. We've had some scripts written, but John has never really responded to any of them. He's the key element to getting it to happen," he said.
"I think Olivia would do it, but John is the one who needs to be convinced. Maybe they will be in wheelchairs by the time they get it done. It'll be like the 80-year-old reunion!"
The 64-year-old added: "That said, it could happen but I'm not involved in any attempts to get it off the ground."
