Aaron Tveit has been announced as the latest addition to Tom Hooper's big screen adaptation of Les Miserables.

The Gossip Girl star will play Enjolras, who leads a student rebellion in the streets of Paris and demands the execution of Inspector Javert, to be played by Russell Crowe.

Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried and Eddie Redmayne are all confirmed to star in the musical movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter, along with Hugh Jackman, who will star as Javert's nemesis, convicted bread stealer Jean Valjean.

Sacha Baron Cohen and Helena Bonham Carter have both been linked to the production, directed by The King Speech's Tom, but have not yet been officially confirmed.

Taylor Swift was rumoured to be competing against Lea Michele, Scarlett Johansson and Evan Rachel Wood to play Eponine.

In the Victor Hugo novel, Eponine falls in love with Marius, to be played in the film by Eddie Redmayne, and dies trying to save his life.

Gladiator's William Nicholson, Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schonberg wrote the screenplay adaptation of the famous story set around the French revolution.

It is being produced by Cameron Mackintosh with an ambitious release date set for December 2012.
