Goldman: Kick-Ass 2 not in works
Jane Goldman has said Kick-Ass 2 is "not in the works right now".
The film's flame-haired writer, who has been busy with X-Men: First Class, cleared up rumours she had started penning the script for the superhero sequel.
"One day. It's not in the works right now, but who knows?" she said.
Jane, who received the honour of Best British Film for Kick-Ass at the Jameson Empire Awards , would like to do a follow-up.
"We'd all enjoy the experience of making the second one because we had such fun doing the first one. But if it happens, we would want to be sure that it can be as good as can be," she added.
The success of the film, which starred Aaron Johnson and Chloe Moretz, took her by surprise.
"I was thrilled we were nominated for all the things we were nominated for, because when we were making it, we were like, 'We are not going to get any awards for this one!'," she said.
"It was very much for people to enjoy, and the fact is it was enjoyed and it did so incredibly well. We are a low-budget British movie and the success of the movie was all we wanted."
Jane's now looking forward to the release of X-Men: First Class on May 30.
"I'm so excited. I just got back from LA, where I was in the edit, and what I saw looked incredible. Matthew Vaughn has done an extraordinary job," she said.
