Gok: Helena rocks the red carpet

Gok Wan has defended Helena Bonham Carter's quirky dress sense, describing her as the "female equivalent" of Johnny Depp.
With the eyes of the world set to be on The King's Speech star at Sunday's Oscars, the stylist and How To Look Good Naked presenter said he was confident the best supporting actress nominee could work the red carpet with aplomb.
"She's quite eclectic, she wears clothes that suits her, that she wants to wear, that she feels are expressing herself. So as far as I'm concerned she's doing it right, because she's doing it for herself and no one else and that's really what your own style should be," Gok said.
"Helena Bonham Carter's kind of up there with Johnny Depp, she's almost the female equivalent."
Gok said he was looking forward to watching the star-studded ceremony.
"It's all a bit like fashion sport for me. I've worked the Oscars a few times and given it a live commentary. This year I won't be working it but I'll be doing my research at home," he said.
The busy fashion guru has also just launched his own range of specially designed retro glasses for Specsavers - and revealed he feels naked without his signature frames.
"The few times I take my glasses off and put contact lenses in I just hate it. I lose my confidence, I feel that I'm very exposed, I feel really vulnerable, and I really enjoy wearing them," Gok said.
"I think glasses are really sexy, they spell out a beautiful narrative about who you are... if you don't love the glasses you're wearing, you may as well be wearing a pair of suede moccasins as far as I'm concerned."
