Mel Gibson is being linked to Sleight Of Hand

Mel Gibson is reportedly in talks to star in new heist comedy Sleight Of Hand.

The controversial actor and director is said to be keen to join the ensemble cast, according to Variety, which includes Kiefer Sutherland, Eric Cantona, Thomas Jane, Til Schweiger and Gerard Depardieu.

The film, written and directed by Brad Mirman, whose previous film scripts include Body Of Evidence, tells the story of a gang of small-time crooks who come into possession of a special gold coin belonging to a French gangster and must find a way of repaying him.

Mel appeared at the Cannes Film Festival this week to promote his new film The Beaver, directed by and co-starring Jodie Foster, about a man who suffers a mental breakdown and uses a beaver glove puppet to communicate.

Sleight Of Hand is due to begin filming in July.
