Gary Oldman and Julie Christie are in talks to join the cast of Girl With The Red Riding Hood.

Amanda Seyfried is starring in the film, which reimagines the tale into a story about a woman in a medieval village being terrorised by a werewolf, while Shiloh Fernandez has been cast as the male lead of orphaned woodcutter Peter.

Julie would play Amanda's grandmother, who loves to knit with a pair of silver needles, while Gary would play Father Soloman, a man whose title is the Witchfinder General and whose job is to find and kill the werewolf, Heat Vision Blog reports.

Max Irons, the son of actor Jeremy Irons, has been cast as Henri, the son of a blacksmith who is betrothed to Amanda's character.

Catherine Hardwicke is directing the film for Warner Bros.
