Martin Sheen has said he was "very impressed" by his young Spider-Man co-star Andrew Garfield.
The veteran actor plays Peter Parker's uncle in Marc Webb's 3D remake, with The Social Network's Andrew taking on the famous title role.
"It's a different phenomenon, these young stars that are coming up. I was very impressed with him because of his commitment and his discipline, and he's a very sweet young man too," Martin said.
The West Wing star added: "I've filmed all the scenes in California and I have to go to New York in April and May and film the final parts that I have to do. It's great fun."
Martin, the father of troubled star Charlie Sheen, is also appearing in new film The Way - directed by another of his three sons, Emilio Estevez.
He plays Tom, an American doctor who embarks on the 500-mile Camino de Santiago walk from the French Pyrenees to the north west of Spain in memory of his dead son.
Martin joked that working with relatives was "very cheap".
He added: "You don't make any money when you're working with family, but you get to play great parts and see great things."
The Way is released in UK cinemas on May 13.
