Jamie Foxx has revealed Denzel Washington, The Notorious B.I.G and Puff Daddy helped inspire his performance as the lead role in Django Unchained.
The Oscar-winning actor stars in Quentin Tarantino's new Western movie, about a slave who becomes a bounty hunter to rescue his wife from an oppressive master, played by Leonardo DiCaprio.
In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Jamie named Denzel Washington in Glory as an inspiration, as well as the film Tombstone. He said he "did little things to push the character forward".
The actor also revealed his musical side, saying that before action scenes he would listen to The Notorious B.I.G. He added that for a scene where his character, Django is reunited with his wife Broomhilda (Kerry Washington) he listened to music by the rapper's widow Faith Evans.
Jamie also wore Sean John clothes, a company owned by his friend Puff Daddy.
He said: "I wore it as sort of a representation from the future to the past of where we were actually going: to where a black man can own his own company, do records, own all these different things."
