The Oscar-winner - the writer/director of more than 45 films - will be given the Cecil B DeMille award at the ceremony in January for his "phenomenal" contribution to cinema.
The news was announced by Theo Kingma, president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.
He said: "There is no one more worthy of this award than Woody Allen.
"His contributions to filmmaking have been phenomenal and he truly is an international treasure."
It isn't known whether Woody, 77, will attend the event to pick up his trophy in person.
