Josh Brolin stars in Spike Lee's Oldboy remake

Josh Brolin has revealed how he became very distant while making Oldboy.

The Gangster Squad star cut himself off from friends while filming the movie, which he described as "really crazy".

"On the set I was OK, but I didn't talk to my friends at home," the 44-year-old actor recollected.

"It was too weird, it's a weird movie. It's going to be really good," he added.

In Spike Lee's English-language remake of the 2003 South Korean thriller, Josh plays a man who is out for revenge after a 15-year isolated period in a locked hotel room.

Liberal Arts actress Elizabeth Olsen, Samuel L Jackson and Sharlto Copley also star in the upcoming movie, which is due to be released in late 2013.

Josh said the cast gave their all to the project: "We gave 1,000 per cent and hopefully it will turn out OK, but you never know."
