Father Christmas has gone from presents to prison as Jim Broadbent is seen for the first time in his latest role as a jailed Santa.

The veteran actor has just begun filming a new movie in which he plays a not so jolly red-clad chap after he is arrested and locked up.

Jim, 64, stars with Rafe Spall and Jodie Whittaker in the family caper Get Santa which has Ridley Scott as executive producer.

In the film, Jim - recently seen in drag for his appearance in The Harry Hill Movie - crashes his sleigh in London and loses his reindeer, but gets put behind bars after he is caught trying to later liberate them from Battersea Dogs home.

He enlists an ex-con Steve, played by Rafe, and his son Tom (newcomer Kit Connor) to spring him free, but his helpers become fugitives in the process.

The film is being shot in London and Leeds and also features Warwick Davis. In the first still to be released from the shoot, Jim's Santa is seen being captured in a mug shot after being banged up in Lambeth Prison.
