Falcone loved working with McCarthy
Melissa McCarthy is great to collaborate with on set, her husband Ben Falcone has revealed.
The couple, who previously acted together in Bridesmaids, Identity Thief and The Heat, have worked together again on his directorial debut, Tammy, and Ben admitted any awkwardness was dispelled as soon as they started work on the film.
He said: "It actually wasn't (awkward). I was afraid it would be, but once we started and we got into a rhythm, really great actors - and I think she is one - tend to direct themselves a lot.
"They are just looking for more suggestions and stuff, so that became much like anyone else. The difference was, she also helped to write it so it was incredibly fun the whole time," the 40-year-old added.
The comedy, which also stars Susan Sarandon, Kathy Bates, Dan Ackroyd and Toni Collette, stars Melissa as Tammy, who heads on a road trip with her grandmother (Susan).
"We are super happy with it. We think it's just such a funny, funny movie with a great heart to it," Ben said.
"Melissa's always great and she's really wonderful in this movie. Melissa drives all the way through it and I'm incredibly excited."
Ben will make a cameo appearance in Tammy, which will be released in the UK on July 4. He previously starred in the Friends spin-off show Joey and next appears in Jason Bateman's directorial debut Bad Words.
"I have a small part in the movie. I play a really creepy guy, which is easy because I am a creep," he joked.
