DiCaprio Tarantino's new villain?
Leonardo DiCaprio has reportedly signed up to play the villain in Quentin Tarantino's new film Django Unchained.
The "spaghetti Western" tells the story of a bounty hunter who mentors an escaped slave named Django and then teams up with him to free Django's wife from an evil plantation owner named Calvin Candie.
Creative Screenwriting magazine's senior editor Jeff Goldsmith tweeted: "Casting Rumor [sic]: Leonardo DiCaprio WILL play villian [sic] Calvin Candie in Tarantino's Django Unchained! QT wanted him for [Inglourious Basterds] & now has him!"
Will Smith was reportedly in talks to play Django but The Wire's Idris Elba sparked rumours he was in talks for the part this week when he tweeted: "Having one of the biggest meetings of my professional life today... meeting a very controversial director for a very controversial part."
Samuel L Jackson and Christoph Waltz, who have worked with Quentin before, are also tipped to star in the film.
Oscar-winner Christoph, who made his Hollywood debut in Inglourious Basterds, is set to be the bounty hunter with Samuel as a rival slave, who faces off with Django.
Quentin is thought to be aiming for an autumn shoot, with the exact location yet to be determined.
