Johnny Depp could be saddling up for another reunion with Gore Verbinski in The Lone Ranger.
The filmmaker, who worked with the Hollywood star in 2007's Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End and the forthcoming animated Rango, is reportedly serious about directing the Disney film.
Johnny, who next appears in The Tourist with Angelina Jolie, would play Tonto, reported Deadline.
There is no word yet as to when production on the movie would begin, as the Alice In Wonderland actor is planning to re-team with Tim Burton on Dark Shadows. He has been shooting the fourth instalment in the Pirates franchise, On Stranger Tides, alongside Penelope Cruz.
In their upcoming collaboration Rango - which also stars Isla Fisher, Bill Nighy and Ray Winstone - Johnny voices the goggly-eyed title lizard.
