Depp: I would have played Alice!
Johnny Depp was so keen to work with Tim Burton again that he would have gladly played Alice in his new film, Alice In Wonderland.
The Hollywood heartthrob - who, instead, plays the Mad Hatter - had previously collaborated with the filmmaker on Edward Scissorhands, Sleepy Hollow and Charlie And The Chocolate Factory, but was so over the moon to be reunited with him once again that he would've done anything Tim asked him to.
"To be honest, he could have asked me to play Alice and I would have said yes - I would have done whatever character he wanted," he told Parade.com.
But Johnny was glad to portray the Mad Hatter in the 3-D film, which also stars Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter and newcomer Mia Wasikowska as Alice.
"The fact that it was the Mad Hatter was a bonus because it was a great challenge," he continued.
"There is some kind of connection, some sort of understanding that Tim and I have that is at most times unspoken. I do feel a certain amount of pressure like, 'Will this be the film where I disappoint him?' I try really hard just to come up with something that's very different and we haven't experienced together before."
:: Alice In Wonderland will be in cinemas on March 5.
