The first Lincoln Rhyme novel, The Bone Collector, was turned into a hit movie in 1999, starring Denzel Washington as the quadriplegic investigator and Angelina Jolie as his sexy sidekick Amelia Sachs.

The 63-year-old author, who has written his tenth Rhyme thriller The Kill Room, admitted: "I've optioned just about everything I've written lately and not much has happened."

"There's some legal issues to the rights of Lincoln Rhyme, which is why there have been no sequels," he added.

:: The Kill Room by Jeffery Deaver is published by Hodder and Stoughton and is available now.
