Robert De Niro hands over duty as head of the family to Ben Stiller in Meet The Parents: Little Fockers.
In a new trailer for the sequel, The Godfather Part II star - who plays father-in-law Jack Byrnes - is shown asking Stiller's character Gaylord 'Greg' Focker: "There's always been a patriarch to meet our family through good times and bad, so I ask you Greg, if I go down, are you prepared to be the Godfocker?"
In a parody of the Frances Ford Coppola classic film, Greg is shown greeting his father-in-law with a kiss on both cheeks when he arrives to visit his grandchildren.
Greg is then handed the "honour" of carving the turkey at dinner and cuts his finger, spraying blood all over the dinner table.
The trailer also sees De Niro and Stiller face-off at a children's party, brawling in a ball pool.
The film, due out in cinemas at Christmas, sees father-of-two Greg experiencing a mid-life crisis.
The movie also sees Blythe Danner return as Greg's mother-in-law, Teri Polo as his wife, Barbra Streisand as Greg's mother and Owen Wilson as Kevin Rawley, Pam's ex-fiance, who her parents greatly approved of.
Jessica Alba also makes an appearance as a sexy rep from a pharmaceutical company, Laura Dern as a family councillor and Harvey Keitel as a contractor employed by Greg.
New York Magazine recently reported sources at Universal have revealed that following disappointing test screenings, there are plans to re-shoot scenes from the previously wrapped production, in the hope Dustin Hoffman will agree to be a last-minute addition to the cast, reprising his role as Greg's laid-back dad.
