De Niro joins Killing Season cast
Robert De Niro has come on board for the action movie Killing Season.
The Limitless star has taken the lead role - which Nicolas Cage was originally linked to - opposite John Travolta in Mark Steven Johnson's tense thriller, reported Deadline.
Set in the Appalachian Mountains, Robert would play an American military veteran who retreats to a remote cabin in the woods and strikes up an unlikely friendship with a European tourist, who is actually a former Serbian soldier bent on revenge (John).
Producer Avi Lerner said: "We're excited to be co-financing and co-producing this film with Corsan, and to be working again with Robert De Niro and John Travolta. We've never seen these two great actors on screen together before, and we're excited to see what comes of the combination."
Corsan Pictures CEO Paul Breuls added: "I've loved this project from the moment I read Evan Daughterty's remarkable script. It's thrilling, imaginative, unexpected and dominated by two extraordinary characters on a collision course."
Production is expected to start in January 2012.
