Dame Helen - Age not a big issue
Dame Helen Mirren has said older women are no longer destined for the Hollywood scrap heap.
The actress, 66, believes that age is no longer a big issue in Tinseltown.
She told TV Times magazine: "Times are changing for women. Thirty years ago, someone my age probably wouldn't have been allowed to play the roles I'm doing now.
"I don't want to be younger - I want to play the age I am and carry on doing that. Hopefully the parts will be available for me. We'll see."
The actress recently starred as Israeli secret agent Rachel Singer in espionage thriller The Debt, alongside Tom Wilkinson and Ciaran Hinds.
The film featured a battle between Rachel and a villain played by 64-year-old actor Jesper Christensen.
"We called it the geriatric fight scene," the Hollywood star joked. "The characters are old and we were both exhausted but no stunt doubles were used."
