HE may not have won an Oscar, but Irish nominee Seamus McGarvey did make an impression on Best Actress Jennifer Lawrence.
The Armagh-born filmmaker told the Irish Independent he had "an encounter" with the starlet's dress earlier in the evening.
"I stepped on her dress while walking in, I nearly tore her dress off her," he said.
"She was really cool about it, she just turned around and said, 'I'm a wide load, don't worry'. I was mortified."
McGarvey (pictured), who previously took home an Oscar for 'Atonement', was shortlisted in the Cinematography category for his work in 'Anna Karenina'.
While he missed out to 'Life of Pi', he said that he still got the chance to celebrate.
Killarney, Co Kerry, has a longstanding twinning arrangement with Springfield, Illinois, where Abraham Lincoln lived from 1837 until he was inaugurated as United States' president in 1865.
Hopes are now high that Daniel Day-Lewis's success could turn the spotlight on Ireland and, more specifically, on Springfield's sister town.
Step down, kick off
AS soon as British singer Adele stepped off the stage after singing the Oscar-winning 'Skyfall' theme, she kicked off her Louboutins.
"I'm sorry. (Forget) that," she said, flinging the shoes on to the floor. "I'd pick them up but I can't bend over," she said, motioning toward her tight, beaded dress.
