Clooney for Greengrass thriller?

George Clooney could be producing and starring in the film

George Clooney could be joining forces with director Paul Greengrass for a crime thriller.

The Hollywood actor would star in the as-yet-untitled movie, as well as co-produce with the English filmmaker, reported Variety.

The movie, which has been written by Argo's Chris Terrio, is expected to focus on rival crime syndicates in New York, but details are being kept under wraps.

George - who starred in and directed The Ides Of March - will next appear in Alfonso Cuaron's sci-fi thriller Gravity with Sandra Bullock.

He is also in talks to star in Brad Bird's 1952 and is preparing for his next directing project, art heist movie The Monuments Men.

Paul - best known for his work with Matt Damon on The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Ultimatum and Green Zone - has finished work on Captain Phillips, starring Tom Hanks and is set to direct an adaptation of Robert Harris's best-selling thriller, The Fear Index.
