Chloe Sevigny thinks there's no such thing as the indie film community any more.

The actress, who has starred in indie flicks including Gummo and Kids, said the movement is probably over.

"I don't feel like there's any real indie community left any more," she said.

"I guess I was attached to some movement at some period. Maybe in another 40 years they'll look back and go, 'Oh the Nineties were so cool' and hopefully I'll be associated with it.

"And it was cool. People were going out and making movies for very little money and people were actually seeing them, which doesn't happen any more."

Chloe plays complex, transgender Mia in new television series Hit + Miss which will mark the first time she's played a lead in the 18 years she's been in the business.

"It was a great opportunity to really try to do something I'd never done before," she said. "Prove myself not only to me but to others."

:: Hit + Miss begins on Sky Atlantic on Tuesday, 22 May.
