Channing Tatum is being eyed up to star in a gay romantic comedy by director Paul Feig.
The Bridesmaids filmmaker revealed the White House Down heartthrob is his top choice to play one of the lead roles in the upcoming film, which he is currently developing, reported Cinema Blend.
Paul, who also directed The Heat starring Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy, said comedian John Milhiser, Saturday Night Live's newcomer, would ideally star opposite Channing.
Channing's representatives have said that Paul's "enthusiasm" does not mean anything is actually happening yet, and said the actor isn't actually attached and hasn't been approached about the project.
Paul also revealed that Jason Statham is in talks to star in espionage comedy Susan Cooper, as he promoted the DVD release of The Heat. Melissa McCarthy is already on board to play a female James Bond.
Channing, last seen saving the US President (Jamie Foxx) in Roland Emmerich's action thriller White House Down, has been busy filming the 21 Jump Street sequel with Jonah Hill in Louisiana.
The 33-year-old will next appear in Joseph Gordon-Levitt's directorial debut Don Jon, and will voice Superman in The Lego Movie. He will also star in the Wachowski sci-fi adventure Jupiter Ascending alongside Mila Kunis and Sean Bean, and dark drama Foxcatcher with Steve Carell.
