The actor said his wife, actress Jenna Dewan, breaks down every time they watch the film based on author Nicholas Sparks' emotional novel, which then makes him tearful.

He said: "I think I've cried 100 times at The Notebook, I mean my wife cries, makes me cry every time - she makes me promise that we're going to die together in bed and I'm like, 'That's weird, I don't want to talk about that'."

Channing can next be seen opposite Mamma Mia! star Amanda Seyfried in the movie Dear John, which was based on another of Sparks' books.

:: Dear John opens in the UK on April 14.
