Steve Carell plans to continue his funny streak with Lunatics.

The Crazy Stupid Love star is tipped to star in the comedy as Philip Horkman, a pet shop owner and New Jersey "soccer dad" whose minor feud with another sports-crazy dad soon escalates, reports Deadline.

The film is based on Dave Berry and Alan Zweibel's forthcoming novel of the same name.

Steve, fresh of his romantic turn in Crazy Stupid Love opposite Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone and Julianne Moore, is expected to start filming Burt Wonderstone with Jim Carrey in January.

His next big-screen outing is in comedy Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World with Keira Knightley.
