Butterfield to play Ender's Game
Asa Butterfield has apparently been offered the lead role in Ender's Game.
The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas star could play Andrew 'Ender' Wiggin, a bullied young boy who turns out to be a master military strategist, in Gavin Hood's big-screen adaptation of the classic sci-fi novel by Orson Scott Card, reported Deadline.
There is no confirmation as to whether the 14-year-old would take the part.
Gavin, who broke out with the Oscar-winning Tsotsi before moving into Hollywood with Rendition and X-Men Origins: Wolverine, has been on board the film since earlier this year, alongside Star Trek writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, who are producing.
Ender's Game is set for a release in spring 2013.
Asa - who made his film debut in 2007's comedy drama Son Of Rambow - will next be seen in Martin Scorsese's 3D adventure Hugo alongside Chloe Moretz, Sir Ben Kingsley and Jude Law.
