Butler driving towards Thunder Run
Gerard Butler is said to be gearing up for Iraq war film Thunder Run.
The Scottish star could also be joined by Matthew McConaughey and Sam Worthington in the computer-generated 3D action thriller from Con Air director Simon West, reported Thompson On Hollywood blog.
The film, based on war correspondent David Zucchino's novel, tells the story of the three-day assault by American forces capturing Baghdad at the onset of the Iraq War in 2003, and paints the harrowing picture of the soldiers on the frontlines.
Producer Brian Presley told The Hollywood Reporter: "The scope of the movie is going to feel huge and the goal is to appeal to the Call Of Duty world. It's not going to have a video game world feel but to have a stylised look to it."
He added: "The film will be the first ever conventional war film made to utilise this revolutionary facial and motion capture technology and state of the art CG and 3D. We're locked and loaded and will shoot next year."
