Ed Burns is set to star in the ice hockey film Turk.
The Saving Private Ryan actor will play the father of gifted but troubled 1970s Canadian ice hockey star Derek 'Turk' Sanderson in the movie, Deadline reported.
Ed is developing the project with writer-director Doug Atchison, who will direct from his own screenplay.
The leading man has not been cast for the film, which Ed's Marlboro Road Gang will co-produce.
Despite his sporting success, Sanderson made bad investments and struggled with drink and drugs before friends including teammate Bobby Orr helped him get back on track. He recently released his autobiography, Crossing The Line, which documents his colourful life story.
