Bullock: I said no to Blind Side
Sandra Bullock repeatedly turned down her Oscar-winning role in The Blind Side, she has revealed.
The heart-warming tale, based on the book of the same name by Michael Lewis, tells the story of devout Christian mother-of-two Leigh Anne Tuohy, who takes homeless black student Michael Oher (Aaron Quinton) under her wing.
Sandra confessed: "This is the film I said 'no' to. If I had thought this was going to be my golden ticket... It just was such odd circumstances and things came together in a way that I just didn't see coming... that's what makes it so overwhelming and unexpected."
The 45-year-old actress adopts a Wag look, complete with blonde highlights, skin-tight outfits and designer accessories to play the wealthy working mother in the Deep South and worked closely with the real Leigh Anne to get it right.
She revealed: "Everything I wore was what she wears, every designer label, and every make-up item was from her palette. Her watch was her watch, her night-gown was hers," she says.
She even asked director John Lee Hancock to ask Leigh Anne about her choice of sleepwear.
"I remember asking John to email Leigh Anne to ask her about her night-gown and he sighed because he knew what the reply was going to be - 'Y'all need to get a life'."
:: The Blind Side is released in cinemas on March 26.
