This is the advice thirteen-year-old budding actress Missy Keating has soaked up from her parents Ronan and Yvonne Keating, neither of whom is a stranger to show business.

But, despite their success in the business, the former couple were reluctant at Missy’s interest in acting in the beginning.

“We’re so happy for her,” Yvonne said on The Late Late Show tonight, “But we did have huge reservations at the start. But the art and creativity side of it has done so much for her.

“Obviously, as a parent, you worry, but Missy is pretty conscientious and she has her two feet on the ground.”

Yvonne (39) joked that she’s become her teenage daughter’s official chaperone.

“I’m the chaperone on set,” she said.

“I love the atmosphere of the set, I’d say it wouldn’t be for everyone – it could be seen as quite boring but I think it has a great family atmosphere. It’s like everybody is an army, a big team.”

Yvonne, whose partner cinematographer John is nominated for a BAFTA, said herself and Ronan had spotted Missy’s acting bug when she was young.

“From an early age Missy was all jazz hands,” she said.

“We thought it was just a phase and would pass by but then a few years ago she did an acting camp in LA. Myself and Ronan went to see the showcase at the end and the two of us just said, ‘Oh my goodness’.

“Because firstly, she was so good and secondly, we knew she would never lose the bug.”

Missy's latest movie is The Sea, a silver screen adaptation of author John Banville's famous book.

Model mum Yvonne's boyfriend John Conroy was the director of photography on the shoot, which took place on location around Ireland.

The film will be released in cinemas on April 18.
