Brody plays filmmaker in Cannes

Adrien Brody will play a director in new film Cannes

Adrien Brody is set to try life behind the cameras by playing a director in a new film.

The Pianist star has joined the cast of Cannes, playing a filmmaker who takes his movie to the French film festival along with his actress wife.

Iranian actress Golshifteh Farahani and French thesps Pierre Niney and Ana Girardot will also star in the film, reported Variety.

Christopher Thompson will direct the comedy drama.

He said: "It's a story dealing with love and cruelty. Cannes is the ideal backdrop because it can be exhilarating or depressing; it catalyses rich emotions - we can be hailed as a film master one day and smashed by critics the next day."

Oscar-winner Adrien has several films coming up, including InAPPropriate Comedy, which co-stars Michelle Rodriguez.
