Brit stars audition for Spider-Man
Sam Claflin and Eddie Redmayne are reportedly being screen-tested for a role in The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
The two British actors are going head-to-head for the role of Peter Parker's best friend Harry Osborn, according to The Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision blog.
Sam, star of Pirates Of The Caribbean and Snow White And The Huntsman, and Eddie, who will appear in Les Miserables later this year, are being considered for the part along with fellow British rising star Douglas Booth and American actor and model Boyd Holbrook.
It had previously been reported that Chronicle's Dane DeHaan, Beautiful Creatures' Alden Ehrenreich and Melancholia's Brady Corbet had been screen-tested, but it is now believed Sony has decided to take a different direction.
Harry starts out as Spider-Man's friend, but when after the death of his father, The Green Goblin, he turns against Peter and takes on a villainous role.
Andrew Garfield has confirmed he will reprise his role as Spider-Man, with Emma Stone expected to return as Gwen Stacy.
Shailene Woodley will play new love interest Mary Jane Watson and Jamie Foxx is in talks for the role of villain Electro.
