Brand: Arthur remake a 'mistake'

Russell Brand admitted he felt a 'little bruised' after the Arthur remake

Russell Brand has apparently admitted that he felt "bruised" after the unsuccessful Arthur remake.

The British funnyman starred in the 2011 version as a drunk playboy set to inherit a fortune, who was originally played by Dudley Moore in the 1981 comedy, but the film failed to light the box office on fire.

"I didn't know a lot about script construction. I know more now. I was just embracing things enthusiastically," he is quoted as saying in The Sun.

"I thought I could do anything. I felt a little bruised. I felt I'd made a mistake," added the 37-year-old.

Dame Helen Mirren, Jennifer Garner and Greta Gerwig also starred in Arthur, which was directed by Jason Winer.
