Bourne fans will have to wait another year to see the fifth instalment of the film franchise as it has been put back a year to 2016.

Jeremy Renner is going to be back in the lead role as Aaron Cross and Justin Lin is directing the film, which will now hit cinemas on July 15, 2016 rather than August 14, 2015 according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Apparently, the release has been delayed to make room for Straight Outta Compton, a film about the rise and fall of gangsta rap pioneers N.W.A.

Straight Outta Compton will be produced by Ice Cube and Dr Dre who were original members of N.W.A. and stars O'Shea Jackson Jr, Corey Hawkins and Jason Mitchell as Ice Cube, Dr Dre and Eazy-E respectively.

Universal won't be without a blockbuster in 2015 though, as Fast & Furious 7 is slated for April of that year, Jurassic World and Ted 2 for June, and Minions for July.

Bourne will go up against another fifth instalment, Ice Age 5, on its new release date.
