Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli are set to become recipients of the David O Selznick Achievement Award, named after the producer of movie epic Gone With The Wind.

The gong, to be presented by the Producers Guild of America (PGA) at a ceremony in Los Angeles in January, recognises an entire body of work in film.

BBC News reported that the pair, who celebrated the famous franchise's 50th anniversary last year, said that they were "honoured to be associated" with the award.

It quoted PGA Awards co-chairs Lori McCreary and Michael De Luca as saying that the producers were "the driving force behind one of the most cherished franchises in the history of film.

"Thanks to the consistency and steadfastness of their creative vision, generations of moviegoers have been able to share the adventures of one of our iconic heroes," they added.

"We look forward to their continuing to bring thrilling exploits and cinematic masterpieces to audiences worldwide, and we are delighted to honour them with this year's David O Selznick Achievement Award."

The 24th Bond film, directed by Sam Mendes, will see Skyfall star Daniel Craig reprising his role as the British spy and is due out in 2015.
