Bernal's family time in Verona
Gael Garcia Bernal particularly enjoyed making his latest film - because he got to spend time with his family in Italy.
The 31-year-old Mexican actor-director - known for his Spanish-speaking roles in The Motorcycle Diaries and Y Tu Mama Tambien - appears with Amanda Seyfried and Christopher Egan in Letters To Juliet, which is set in Verona.
"I got into this movie because it meant spending some time here in Italy with my family - that was very fun," said the father to one-year-old son Lazaro with actress girlfriend Dolores Fonzi.
"And getting to know Amanda was fantastic. She's a really good actress and a really good companion."
Bernal plays Victor, an intensely passionate chef who heads to the dreamy Italian city of Verona with fiancee Sophie (Amanda) to inject some much-needed spark into their relationship in the romantic drama.
The actor, who took his family with him to Verona, said: "It's a role, the likes of which, I've never played before. Victor is very specific and loves food more than anything else and wants to share that with his girlfriend."
The movie also stars Vanessa Redgrave as British grandmother Claire.
