Jay Baruchel has revealed he and Nicolas Cage sang to each other while filming car chase scenes for The Sorcerer's Apprentice.

The 28-year-old How To Train Your Dragon star was delighted to work with the Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas actor on the Disney adventure, but sometimes found working with his hero quite surreal.

Jay revealed: "It gets kind of loopy, if you work 70-hour weeks, there's a certain point where there's a wall that you break through and before you know it, Nicolas Cage is singing the Incredible Hulk theme song.

"Also shooting in midtown Manhattan on Friday and Saturday nights where every Tom, Dick and Harry is out on the town getting p***ed and we're driving through and I'm beside the most famous human being on earth, being towed in a one-of-a-kind Rolls Royce with lights and cameras pointing at them.

"Every time we stopped everywhere, it was like the fall of Saigon - people were shouting National Treasure 3 and stuff like that. It was hilarious, I'll never forget those moments.

"We just had to keep each other company and make each other laugh and make sure no one went insane. I would love to see footage of in-between takes on any of those driving scenes, because topics of conversation and songs sung would be worth it alone."

And Jay's hero seemed to enjoy the experience just as much too.

Nicolas said: "The best thing about the car chase scene for me was working with Jay because we had to riff off each other and pretend that we were communicating, reading each other's minds and going into reverse world."

::The Sorcerer's Apprentice is released in cinemas on August 11.
