The Oscar-nominated Spanish actor is set to join Daniel Craig and Dame Judi Dench in the next highly-anticipated instalment of the spy franchise, directed by Sam Mendes, according to Deadline.
Details about Javier's character are being kept under wraps for now, but he is tipped to play a villain.
The Biutiful star, who welcomed a newborn son with wife Penelope Cruz last week, won numerous awards including an Oscar for his portrayal of cold-blooded killer Anton Chigurh in the Coen Brothers' No Country For Old Men.
