Elizabeth Banks is set to make her directorial debut with the Pitch Perfect sequel.
The Hunger Games actress, who co-starred in and produced the 2012 musical comedy, will return "in the same capacity" for the follow-up, which will again be written by Kay Cannon.
"Elizabeth originated the idea for Pitch Perfect and was instrumental in making the first film such a huge success. She brings an enormous amount of energy and experience to everything she works on and we're thrilled that she is making her feature directorial debut on Pitch Perfect 2," Universal Pictures chairman Donna Langley told The Hollywood Reporter.
Stars Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson are said to be "likely" to return, insiders claim.
Pitch Perfect, featuring mash-ups of popular chart hits, starred a first-year university student (played by Anna), who reluctantly decides to join a college a cappella group and see them become a success through to the finals of a nationwide singing competition.
The film, which is based on Mickey Rapkin's book, was a box office hit, grossing more than 115 million US dollars (over £69 million) worldwide. The soundtrack was also a success, and Anna's performance of Cups became a huge hit.
Elizabeth, who reprised her role as Effie Trinket in the second Hunger Games film Catching Fire, previously directed comedic shorts.
The 39-year-old has a number of movies coming up including The Lego Movie, in which she voices one of the characters, comedy Walk Of Shame, the Brian Wilson biopic Love And Mercy, and the two-part finale of The Hunger Games series.
