Baker dreams of Barrymore rom-com

Simon Baker would love to star in a romantic comedy with Drew Barrymore.
The Australian actor, known for playing psychic consultant Patrick Jane in The Mentalist, fancies the change of direction and reckons the Whip It star would be perfect as his leading lady.
"Drew Barrymore is really good - she was great in Grey Gardens but she hasn't had a good romantic comedy for a while and in the right role, she'd be really good," he said.
Simon would also like to work with Carey Mulligan.
"Carey Mulligan, she is divine - when I saw An Education I thought there is the best female performance I've seen for a long time. But she couldn't play opposite me because she's young."
The 40-year-old dad-of-three laments the current state of romantic comedies.
"I would love to do a rom-com, but they are not good - good and successful doesn't equate to the same thing," he explained.
"A lot of the romantic comedies that have been served up in recent times are not very good. I like the Cary Grant and George Cukor stuff, with the witty banter and dialogue - they don't make them like that any more."
:: The Mentalist is shown on Five on Fridays at 9pm.
