Avatar leading way at Empire Awards

Avatar and Inglourious Basterds are leading the way at the Empire Awards.
James Cameron's sci-fi blockbuster and Quentin Tarantino's war flick have five nominations apiece.
The Hurt Locker and District 9 received four nominations each, whilst Up In The Air and An Education have three.
Avatar, Star Trek, District 9, Inglourious Basterds and The Hurt Locker are all up for best film.
The best director title pits Neil Blomkamp (District 9), JJ Abrams (Star Trek) and Kathryn Bigelow (The Hurt Locker) against Cameron and Tarantino.
Zoe Saldana (Avatar), Carey Mulligan (An Education), Emily Blunt (The Young Victoria), Melanie Laurent (Inglourious Basterds) and Anne-Marie Duff (Nowhere Boy) are all up for the leading actress gong.
Best actor nominees are Robert Downey Jr (Sherlock Holmes), Sir Michael Caine (Harry Brown), Christoph Waltz (Inglourious Basterds), Sam Worthington (Avatar) and Robert Pattinson (New Moon).
Now in its 15th year, the Awards are voted for entirely by British film fans.
The winners will be revealed on March 28th at a ceremony at London's Grosvenor House Hotel hosted by comedian Dara O'Briain.
The nominations are chosen by readers of Empire Magazine who cast their votes via the magazine's website.
