Darren Aronofsky will not direct spy thriller Red Sparrow, it has been reported.
The Black Swan filmmaker had been in negotiations about taking on the adaptation of Jason Matthews' book, but sources said he is now "moving on", according to The Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision blog.
The movie is still in development, with a replacement director yet to be found. A writer also needs to be hired to pen the script.
Red Sparrow follows "a Russian spy seductress and a young CIA agent who deals with Russian moles".
Darren's next movie is biblical epic Noah, which will be released this year and stars Russell Crowe, Anthony Hopkins, Emma Watson, Jennifer Connelly and Ray Winstone.
