Amy Huberman: ‘Kylie Minogue inspired my acting career’
Amy Huberman has said that Kylie Minogue was the idol that inspired her to forge a career in acting.
The Threesome star admitted she was superfan when she was younger, and envied the Kylie’s role in Aussie soap opera Neighbours.
“I was a huge Neighbours fan. That was one of the reasons I wanted to act. Then Kylie became a pop star so I was all over that. I was a member of her fan club. My mum took me to a concert of hers for my birthday with some of my friends. It was such a big deal. I think as well when you’re a small kid having someone like Kylie- speaking now as a mum- she was an Australian sweetheart so she was a good role model,” said Amy.
The actress was speaking to Danny O’Reilly in his new show A Different Side, which airs on Today FM at 4PM on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Amy is currently in London celebrating her sixth anniversary with husband Brian O’Driscoll.
The pair spent Saturday afternoon at Wimbledon, where they watched the match between Andy Murray and John Millman from the royal box in centre-court.
The pair rubbed shoulders with David Beckham and Amy nabbed a photograph with the former footballer later in the day.
Amy and Brian stayed in London’s plush Kensington Hotel for the weekend but left their two children Sadie (3) and Billy (1) at home as they celebrated the occasion.
The pair wed this weekend in 2010 in the parish of Aughavas in Co. Leitrim and their ceremony was attended by more than 250 guests, who followed on to the reception in the four star Lough Rynn hotel.
On the day, Amy wore a beautiful strapless gown designed by Welsh bridal designer Stephanie Allin, who says that she continues to receive at least two enquires about the dress from brides-to-be each week.
