Affleck thrilled with rave reviews
Ben Affleck is "thrilled" that his new film, The Town, has received rave reviews.
The gritty heist drama - which he directed, co-wrote and stars in - took the No 1 spot at the US box office on its opening weekend after raking in 23.8 million dollars, and is a strong contender for the Oscars next year.
"If it hadn't turned out well, I'd be lying to you and telling you this kind of thing didn't matter but it feels really nice - I've been around long enough and seen the highs and lows to really enjoy this... I'm honoured and thrilled," Ben said at the film's premiere in Dublin.
British actress Rebecca Hall, who plays love interest Claire, praised her multi-talented co-star.
"He was incredibly relaxed and at ease and confident. The thing is, if you are that good at what you do, it lends a certain relaxation and ease and he has that in spades, and he gave that sensibility to everyone else on the set which meant that we were able to do our best work," she said.
She added: "He's a very good director and an incredibly good actor. He's very talented at both. I didn't think it would be technically possible for someone both acting and directing at the same time, but he managed to blend both disciplines seamlessly. It was very astonishing and inspirational to watch."
:: The Town opens in cinemas on September 24.
