Ben Affleck says he didn't turn down Justice League

Ben Affleck has revealed that the Justice League "is not something he's working on" - because he was never officially offered the chance to direct it.

The Oscar-winning star was rumoured to be one of the candidates to sit in the director's chair for the upcoming superhero movie, but insisted that he was only briefly approached about it.

"I just want to make it clear because it's not like I had something to even pass on. Because someone will eventually do Justice League and they'll go, like, ' Ben Affleck passed on it,' and it won't be true," he told HitFix.com.

"So I don't mind setting the record straight. It's one of those things where the closest I came was some people talked to me about it at a meeting. They were like, 'Here's the stuff we're doing,' you know? Here's what we're looking at'. That kind of thing."

He added: "And they suggested it. But I don't think there's a script. I don't think there's anything."

Ben, who has directed three films (The Town, Gone Baby Gone and Argo), admitted he is "flattered" his name is in the mix, and is excited about the film.

"I guess I should be flattered, and I'm sure it will be cool," he told MTV News.

"I've seen some of the stuff from the new Superman movie and that stuff is awesome. I think they took a really cool, real approach to Superman, which no one has done before, so if that trend continues I'm sure Justice League will be great."
