Sir Mick Jagger's character in the upcoming James Brown biopic has been cast.
The actor landed the part by auditioning and sending in both a tape of himself singing the Stones song Time Is On My Side and a side-by-side comparison of himself and the real Jagger, who is a producer on the movie.
Get On Up, directed by The Help's Tate Taylor, "traces Brown's rise from humble beginning to stardom through to his eventual drug-fueled downfall".
Production on the Universal biopic, which has been written by Jez and John-Henry Butterworth and Steven Baigelman, is scheduled to start this month.
Jagger previously tweeted: "So glad the Jagged Films/ Imagine biopic of James Brown GET ON UP is going to be shooting this October, starring Chad Boseman. I'm excited there is going to be so much great music in this film, as well as a dramatic story."
