Lunchbox: Ha'Penny Bridge Café

14 Bachelors Walk, D1, Tel: 087 1484782

Sophie Gorman

The Cost: €5 for club baguette and soft drink.

The Look: Nicely laid-out room cleverly used to give the feeling of space, with a large window overlooking the Liffey.

The Goods: Bargain bonanza with any sandwich, panini or baguette and any drink for just €5. Sandwiches start at €2 and baguettes and bagels at just €2.50. Hot specials and all-day breakfasts also available.

The Bad: FM104 is blasting out through the speakers, making conversation almost impossible. And my drink is served with a plastic beaker that is decidedly dirty. Clean glasses, please.

The Result: The baguette is nicely assembled, the bread itself is hot and filled with chicken breast, tomato, salad and freshly cooked crispy bacon. The staff are helpful and the prices are in line with our economy, making this place a bit of a find.

The Grade: B-.
