Love/Hate star Kelly signs up with Al Pacino's agent
SHE made her silver screen debut opposite Fionnula Flanagan, Brian Gleeson and Pat Shortt in the award-winning Life's A Breeze and now up-and-coming actress Kelly Thornton (16) has landed an agent in Hollywood.
After impressing some of the industry's head honchos with her portrayal in the independent movie last year, Kelly has been signed up to top talent agencies in London and LA.
The Dubliner is now being represented by ICM, who look after some of the biggest names in the business.
"She's with the same team who look after Al Pacino and Christopher Walken, so it's been an absolutely amazing few months to say the least," Kelly's proud mother, Maria Creighton, told the Herald.
Dublin-based Kelly, a pupil at Louis High School in Rathmines, was hand picked ahead of hundreds of hopefuls by casting director Maureen Hughes to star in Love/Hate last year. Kelly and her little sister Robyn (11) featured in the opening episode of season four.
The episode saw gangland criminals Nidge (Tom Vaughan-Lawlor), Fran (Peter Coonan) and Tommy (Killian Scott) kidnap the family of a security van driver and audiences watched Kelly's character form an unlikely bond with heartthrob Tommy during the Tiger kidnap heist.
But it was her work in Life's A Breeze, which tells the story of a family struggling to stay afloat through hard times, that caught the attention of ICM.
"Some producers and agents saw her in it and really liked her," Maria said.
"She's been auditioning around the clock since then and there are some exciting things coming up, we're just waiting to get the green light."
