Irish expats will be able to watch the show along with the nation, RTE has revealed.

When Ryan Tubridy dons his festive jumper, anyone living abroad can tune in for a healthy dose of nostalgia and a little taste of home.

A spokesperson told independent.ie: “It happened last year as well. People can watch it live and if they miss it, they can get it the next day.”

“Anyone anywhere in the world can watch the show because it’s not geo-blocked.”

Last year the Late Late Toy Show was the most watched TV event in Ireland, with almost 1.5 million people tuning in.

“The people abroad are not forgotten about just because they’re not in Ireland. The Late Late Show is one of the most watched shows in Ireland so it’s important to remember those abroad.”

The Herald has revealed that Tubridy is known to be a big Mary Poppins fan and he will open the show re-enacting the role made famous by Van Dyke as chimney sweep Bert.
