Gwynnie and Chris announce the end of their 10 year marriage 'with hearts full of sadness'
Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin have split up with the couple saying they made the decision with sad hearts.
“It is with hearts full of sadness that we have decided to separate,” said the couple on Ms Paltrow’s website.
After nearly 11 years of marriage the celebrity pair said they have been trying to repair their relationship for more than 12 months.
“We have been working hard for well over a year, some of it together, some of it separated, to see what might have been possible between us, and we have come to the conclusion that while we love each other very much we will remain separate,” read their statement.
The Coldplay frontman and the Hollywood actress married in 2003 and have two children together, Apple (9) and Moses (7). They said they will remain together as a family in spite of the break-up.
“We are, however, and always will be a family, and in many ways we are closer than we have ever been,” stated Ms Paltrow.
She continued by saying “we are parents first and foremost, to two incredibly wonderful children and we ask for their and our space and privacy to be respected at this difficult time.”
They described their split as a “conscious uncoupling” and that they will continue to parent together but requested privacy at this time.
“We have always conducted our relationship privately, and we hope that as we consciously uncouple and co-parent, we will be able to continue in the same manner,” finished the statement.
It was posted on the actress’s website, Goop, and signed off with “Love Gwyneth and Chris.”
